I have some exciting news about my first solo show Raising the Bar at Studio One Toi Tū.
Raising the Bar features the portraits of 16 inspirational New Zealand women, from diverse backgrounds, working in the field of law. By depicting these prominent trailblazers who have achieved success in spite of the inequalities and biases in the profession, it’s my hope that the portraits will inspire future generations of young women as well as contribute to changing the nature and face of a profession struggling with inequality and diversity.
By depicting strong women who are challenging the status quo, these works provide a counterpoint to both the submissive presentation of women in art history and the male portraits that have traditionally adorned our courtrooms and boardrooms.
Opening Wed 6 April 5pm. Viewing runs Thurs 7 – Thurs 5 May. Opening hours: Mon - Fri 10am-6pm, Sat 10am-4pm.
1 Ponsonby Road, Grey Lynn, Auckland.
