As we hunker down for the cooler months, we celebrate the essence of home and the joy in being a homebody over winter - the warmth, the things we collect and treasure, and the spaces we relax in, share with friends and family. You can expect a delightful collection of subject matter including still lifes, nudes, and architectural paintings and scenes - these last two being my genres
Aesthetically, I’ve always been drawn to the formal elements that architecture presents. Our homes can provide beautiful formal compositions with satisfying geometric lines and charming decorative details. Using windows or verandahs to frame a landscape adds both visual depth to the picture plane and a narrative element to the painting, inviting us to ponder who occupies the space from where we view what lies beyond. I also am interested in what the style of houses we build and occupy reveals about the conditions and shifts in our culture over time.
I will be exhibiting 5 paintings in the show, which I hope you will come along to see them.
